Arts in the Marches Creative Workshops
Local artists offer expert tuition on a range of creative arts. We offer one day or two day workshops or creative holidays – come away with a group of friends and return home with a new skill and some wonderful art works to treasure.
Depending on the activity involved, workshops are held in The White House Studio, Llangarron in the Herefordshire Countryside, or in the artists’ own studio nearby or in the new modern Community Venue "The Garron Centre" in the heart of the village.
Arts in the Marches Creative Workshops provide an opportunity to learn a new skill or brush up on an existing skill, and to make friends. Workshops are small to ensure everyone gets the help and advice they need. All workshops include homemade refreshments and light lunch. The artists are able to offer follow up advice and support if required.
Come for the day or stay longer and experience what Herefordshire can offer. Help with locating B&B and self-catering accommodation provided.

Brian Griffiths: Photography for Craftspeople
Brian has run this successful course on a number of occasions. Aimed at people who have little or no photography experience and are often blissfully ignorant of the capacity of their cameras, Brian simplifies the process and helps creative arts and crafts practitioners take studio quality images if their work, suitable for website and other promotional purposes.
Ardyn Griffyn: Papier Mache Sculptures
Ardyn works in this simplest of materials to produce the most witty and intricate sculptures. She shared her techniques during this 2 day course. Time between the workshops allowed the art work to dry before the completion phase on the second day. Some students were so inspired by the first session they brought along additional items they had already produced in the intervening time!
Sue Garratt: Ceramics
Working in her own studio on Orcop Hill, Sue runs a 2 day course which allows people to make small items which can then be fired and glazed after drying out between times.
Jan Knibbs: Creative Embroidery Master Class
Jan has won an international reputation for her embroidery skills. Held in her own studio in Goodrich, Jan provided an insight into the range of her techniques. Participants were all delighted to learn the particular skills of making silk ribbon flower embellishments.
Diane Ree: Textiles A Master Class
Diane offered help with those annoying sewing projects that just won't go right. One attendee finally completed a beautiful crewel jacket that had been languishing half finished and unloved, making it reversible in the process!
